August Artist Meetup: Inspiring Collaboration Ideas and Creative Brainstorming

Our August artist meetup was a truly delightful event, even though we missed some of our regular attendees. A heartfelt thank you to Olga Klekner for graciously hosting the gathering in her charming backyard in Harrow. The setting was perfect, with gorgeous weather and a peaceful lake view.

In attendance were Olga Klekner, Marian Drouillard, Booby Wagner, Kristy LeBlanc, and Gulnaz Turdalieva. We started with warm introductions before delving into an engaging discussion about our magazine. Olga, Bobbi, and Marian shared their artistic journeys and what inspired their current creative paths.

We brainstormed various strategies to boost the magazine’s reach and visibility and explored new directions and events that could benefit our artistic community.

Olga, an abstract artist and published poet, proposed an exciting new feature for the magazine—a Poetry Corner. This addition will allow us to showcase poetry submissions alongside our art, adding a fresh and dynamic element to our publication.

Marian suggested collaborating with local organizations like WindsorEats to include articles on culinary arts, while Olga proposed partnerships with local wineries and restaurants for additional opportunities.

Kristy provided insights about the Awesome Amherstburg chapter, and we discussed the possibility of seeking prize money from this organization to support young college students participating in art contests. The exchange of ideas was both inspiring and invigorating.

The late afternoon was filled with stimulating conversations about art and food, complemented by light refreshments. The positive and uplifting atmosphere made for a memorable and inspiring gathering. We look forward to bringing these ideas to life and continuing to support and connect with our vibrant local art community.
