After attending the Fine Arts program at the University of Windsor, Toni (MacDonald) Wells
worked in office settings for 40 years before seizing the opportunity in 2018 to pursue her art
as a professional.
Toni uses acrylics on canvas or mixed media on paper to create realistic and abstract images
that are unique, colourful and full of light. Her work demonstrates a loving awareness of the
wonders of nature and she is also recognized as a specialist in commemorative portraits.
What a Wonderful World! Toni’s first solo show at the Leamington Arts Centre in 2020 was
very successful despite Covid restrictions. She was later featured in a prominent Windsor
magazine, The Drive, for her artistic achievements. The Drive commented that her work can
“inspire us to rise up and move beyond the rough moments in life.” Her second Solo Exhibit,
Rediscovering Parklands, at the Carnegie Arts and Visitors Centre as very well received in
June 2022. Toni was also a featured artist writer in Art Scoop in the Kingsville Neighbours
and the Kingsville Times at that time.
In addition to being a member of several local arts organizations in Windsor/Essex County,
Toni is the Exhibit Coordinator for the Arts Society of Kingsville and on their Board of
Directors. Her pieces are often exhibited in local galleries such as the Carnegie Arts &
Visitors Centre, Gibson Gallery, Leamington Art Centre, Artcite, and Sho Art Spirit &
Performance Centre. Community oriented, Toni is an active participant and contributor to
several local fundraising events each year.
