Gisele Bick

My functional work is focused on making pots that bring new ideas of beauty into the world of everyday functional objects. I make my pots hoping that they have something new to reveal about themselves with each use and encourage lively physical and visual interaction with their users.

All of my pottery is one of a kind and can’t be duplicated. I love to make original teapots, mugs, butter dishes, and bowls. The stoneware clay that I use is fired to a cone 6 in an electric kiln, making it microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.

My love of this craft began when my husband bought me some clay and a few tools for my Birthday. I found a class close to my house and signed up. My husband passed away suddenly and I totally immersed myself. Unfortunately, he never got to see what became of that hunk of clay, but the healing properties it had were his gift to me.

I have been working in clay now for 15 years and teaching classes for 6 years.

I am always experimenting with form and glaze chemistry.

Raku pottery is something that I like to do, Always trying new things. In 2018 I was awarded the mayor’s art award for Lakeshore. Classes are offered and custom orders accepted. My work is Available at the local maker in Kingsville, and Urban Art Market in Windsor.
